MidWes Student Summit This Saturday

Dear students,

Given recent discussions about Wesleyan’s relationship with the Middletown community, I would like to invite you to the Middletown-Wesleyan Relationship Student Summit, happening Saturday April 27th, from 1-3 PM in Albritton 311 (top floor), which is being hosted by the WSA’s Wesleyan-Middletown Relations Committee, also known as “MidWes”. There will be free food from Udupi, a local southeast Indian restaurant (all vegetarian). The Facebook event can be accessed here.

The summit will be an interactive and collaborative meeting between students who have been involved in Middletown (or who have an interest in doing so) and the members of the WSA’s Wesleyan-Middletown Relations Committee, known as “MidWes.” A primary goal of this gathering is to foster more collaboration among students who are involved in the Middletown community by giving students a greater awareness of the work their peers are doing in town.

Participants will be asked to explain their involvement with Middletown, tell other students what tactics have been effective or ineffective in their attempt to bridge the campus and town communities, and provide their thoughts on how the Wesleyan student body and administration can foster a healthier relationship between the two.
In addition, MidWes hopes the summit will give WSA representatives a better understanding of the difficulties students face while becoming involved with Middletown, and what can be done to mitigate those issues. We also plan on going over resources already available tostudents / student groups so as to help students in their efforts to bridge the campus and town communities.
The MidWes committee is very interested in hearing from students who are involved with Middletown so as to make student engagement with the surrounding communities stronger and more effective. We therefore hope you can attend the summit this Saturday and provide us with your thoughts.

Many thanks,
