RICC VISTA Positions Available

RI Campus Compact AmeriCorps*VISTA
Application Deadline Extended to June 21st

Rhode Island Campus Compact has extended the application deadline for the 2013 – 2014 RICC AmeriCorps*VISTA Program to June 21st. RICC AmeriCorps*VISTAs are full-time AmeriCorps members who address the pressing issues facing low-income communities throughout the state with placements at institution of higher education and core urban schools. RICC AmeriCorps*VISTAs help higher education institutions align resources and build effective community partnerships in order to better respond to pressing issues facing low-income communities. In their capacity, AmeriCorps*VISTAs directly impact local communities by leveraging a variety of campus and community resources to meet identified community needs. Through their unique placements, members build resources with community-based organizations and connect them with campus resources such as student volunteers, faculty teaching service-learning courses and community Federal Work Study programs.

CCRI: Connect to College

Connect to College is a student support service that has created a community of scholars with the intention of systematically changing the way students connect to CCRI. Our goal is to ease the college transition by serving as a bridge between C2C students and CCRI resources, which we believe will help them attain their goal of college graduation.

The Learning Community

The Learning Community is a vibrant public school serving Central Falls, Providence and Pawtucket, Rhode Island. A K-8 school proving poverty is not a barrier to achievement, we serve over 500 students in our school and hundreds of other teachers and students in the schools where we work as professional development partners.

Experiential Education is a cornerstone of The University of Rhode Island’s Academic Plan and the President’s transformational goals. The goal of the Office of Experiential Learning and Community Engagement is to bring together faculty, students, business, non-profit organizations, and governmental partners in a seamless process that supports rich student learning experiences and ensures that all students are developing clear learning outcomes that will be properly evaluated for success.
