Application deadlines are heading this way, so be sure not to miss out on any of these amazing opportunities:

Urban Teacher Center: The Urban Teacher Center (UTC) is cultivating the most effective and accountable teachers in the nation who will transform learning for America’s most underserved students.

UTC significantly accelerates student achievement in the nation’s highest-need schools by recruiting outstanding teacher candidates, equipping them with state-of-art training, and linking certification directly to student performance. Over time, UTC graduates will be among the most expert and results-oriented teachers in the nation. They will assume leadership roles and exemplify the public case for better teacher preparation and educator accountability.

WEShadow Managing Director, Family Services/ Stamford Jewish Community Center: The Stamford Jewish Community Center has a nursery school, daycare, after school, seniors, and fitness programs that could be a part of the shadowing experience. The interest of the student would shape the experience and this shadowing opportunity is perfect for students interested in social work and/or education. This would be a three-day shadowing experience and the dates are flexible.

WEShadow Academic Dean/Achievement First/Elm City College Prep: Job shadow/brief-internship at a high-performing charter elementary school in New Haven, CT. A chance to see education reform in action from the perspective of teachers and leadership, and work directly with students and see the day to day of school operation. This alum was a 2006 TFA Corps Member. Highly recommended for undergrads considering Teach For America or similar programs. This is a five-day shadowing opportunity and can be completed between January 13-January 24.

Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program: The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program is a Japanese Government-sponsored program to improve English language education and promote grass-roots level international exchange in Japan. Begun in 1987, the JET Program includes 4000 participants from 40 nations. We are hiring for both Coordinators of International Relations (CIRs) and and Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs). While CIRs must have a command of Japanese, ALTs do not.
