Climate Justice Conference of Solutions
WHEN:Saturday, April 12th, 2014 8:30am – 5pm
WHERE:Wesleyan University, Exley Science Center
WHY: Much of the conversation around climate change is dominated by the narrative of “doom-and-gloom.” We believe it is time to focus on solutions in order to move towards climate justice. The focus on the right kinds of solutions from a myriad of perspectives can help put us on the path towards a better future. Rather than continuing to talk about the forms of energy, societies, or policies we don’t want, this will be an opportunity to foster dialogues about the better future we envision.
WHAT: The conference will have panels focused on solutions to our climate and energy challenges (from campaign strategy, policy, and technological perspectives), the co-benefits of climate action (from labor, social justice, business, and national security perspectives), and on-the-ground accounts of solutions in action. The focus will be both national and local in scope.
In addition to panels, conference participants will break out into action-oriented workshops in between sessions. We want this conference to serve as a platform for people to get organized around climate action—not just talk about it.
