Wesleyan Book Buds Bake Sale and Book Drive

Wesleyan Book Buds is an Office of Community Service Student Group. They started as an Innovation Fund grantee in Spring 2019 and collected and donated 255 books to Macdonough Elementary School, Woodrow Wilson Middle School, the Book Mobile project, and the Cross Street Church After School Tutoring Program.

The Wesleyan Book Buds is planning a Thanksgiving Book Drive for the Wesleyan campus, which will take place following Thanksgiving break from December 2nd-6th. As a reminder, the Wesleyan Book Buds collects children’s books from Wesleyan students and professors and donates them to low-income children in Middletown in order to help bridge the book accessibility and achievement gap. Book Buds will also be hosting a bake sale next Friday November 22nd to raise money for purchasing new books, which feature protagonists of color as well as protagonists from underrepresented groups (LGBTQ+, low income, first-gen, etc.) for the communities we serve.

Here are the details for the events:

Thanksgiving Bake Sale: Friday, November 22nd from 11:30am to 2pm at the Usdan tables.

Thanksgiving Book Drive: Following Thanksgiving break from December 2nd-6th. Donation bins will be placed in Usdan, SciLi, Olin, and the Resource Center.
