Connecticut Higher Order Thinking (HOT) Schools in partnership with Wesleyan’s Green Street Arts Center is offering three fellowships to Wesleyan Students. This is a unique opportunity for organized, tech savvy individuals interested in the elements of planning, developing, implementing and coordinating particular aspects of the HOT Schools program including the HOT Schools Summer Institute (SI). The SI is an intensive interactive arts education experience for 200 plus artists, teachers, administrators and parents engaged in school culture change through strong arts, arts integration, and democratic practice.

//Position 1. Arts in Education (AE) Conference Planning Fellow
Duration: The AE Conference Planning Fellow will work in two* phases
Phase 1: April 1 through May 10: ten (10) hours per week –
(Flexible schedule)
Phase 2: May 13 through July 12: forty (40) hours per week
Description: Participating in event design, planning and implementation
- Research and compile relevant resources
- Assisting in creation of promotional materials
- Managing multiple data systems (school reports and plans, on-line registrations and surveys, etc.)
- Organizing materials and supplies for presenters
- Networking with educators, artists and presenters
- General clerical duties (copying, filing, assembling materials, etc.)
Qualifications: The candidate for this position should be a self-starter with strong writing skills, be proficient in using excel and Google docs and have general clerical skills. The position requires flexibility, strong interpersonal skills and an interest in working collaboratively.
Stipend: $3,600 paid in bi-weekly installments
*This position may lead to a 10 hour per week fellowship throughout the 2013 – 2014 school year

Title: Arts in Education (AE) Conference Implementation Fellow
Duration: The AE Conference Implementation Fellow will work
June 1- July 12, 2013 – 40 hours per week
Description: Participating in event design, planning and implementation
- Research and compile relevant resources

- Creating and Tracking on-line registration
- Creating on-line surveys
- Organizing materials and supplies for presenters
- Networking with educators, artists and presenters
- General clerical duties; copying, filing, assembling materials, etc.
Qualifications: The candidate for this position should be a self-starter with strong writing skills, be proficient in using excel and Google docs and have general clerical skills. The position requires flexibility, strong interpersonal skills and an interest in working collaboratively.
Stipend: $2,400 paid in bi-weekly installments

Title: HOT Schools Fellow
Duration: September 2013-May, 2014 ten (10) hours per week
Qualifications: The candidate for this position should be interested in educational pedagogy, the arts in education and the intricacies of program design and implementation in school and community settings. Candidate must be a self-starter with strong writing skills, be proficient in using excel and Google docs and have general clerical skills. The position requires flexibility, strong interpersonal skills and an interest in working collaboratively.
Stipend: $ 3,200 paid in bi-weekly installments
*This position may be extended from position 1 or 2 above.
HOT Schools Program Fellow will report to HOT School Program Staff, assisting as follows:
- event design, planning and implementation
- Research and compile relevant resources
- Development of promotional materials
- managing on-line registration and surveys
- Organizing materials and supplies for presenters
- Networking with educators, artists and presenters
- General clerical duties; copying, filing, assembling materials, etc.
- Assist in collecting assessment data from participating schools
- Observation of professional development and artist residencies in schools
- Assisting in design and implementation of professional development in schools
The HOT Schools program will hold its 20th Annual Summer Institute, a 5-day residential professional development conference for teachers, administrators, parents and teaching artists to be held at Wesleyan University from July 8-12, 2013. The HOT Schools program is a community of practice that networks and develops entities interested in teaching and learning in, about and through the arts using the HOT Approach. HOT practices and strategies stimulate student curiosity, ignite their sense of wonder and steer students toward a journey of lifelong learning. Program fellows will assist in all aspects of planning, implementing, and follow-up of this Summer Institute.
