CCP Anniversary Series Spotlight: WesCFPA

From coordinator Miranda Linsky ’14:

Connecting people to the land. Conserving the land. Since 1895, the Connecticut Forest and Park Association has been serving Connecticut to protect forests, parks, walking trails and open spaces for future generations. Working closely with the CFPA, WesCFPA is specifically responsible for maintaining the nearby Highlawn Forest, and during the winter also manages events such as film screenings, expositions and lectures to promote environmental conservation. Through a partnership with the North End Action Team, a consistent group of WesCFPA members bonds with children in the community by hiking numerous trails together throughout the state.

In the past, WesCFPA has partnered with Alpha Delta Phi Society, the Wrestling Team, Eclectic Society, the Freeman Asian Scholars Association, and Outing Club, to name a few on-campus groups, as well as organizations such as the North End Action Team, Green Corps and the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. If your group is interested in community service hours or a fun bonding activity, feel free to e-mail wescfpa@gmail.com. Check out the WesCFPA Facebook page at www.facebook.com/WesCFPA for upcoming events and beautiful photos.

Congratulations to newly certified crew chiefs Erin McGrath ’16, Alex Jed Siebert ’16, and Hilary Brumberg ’17 this past weekend!
