reSet Social Enterprise Challenge: $10k for your Social Enterprise

The reSET Social Enterprise Awards recognize social entrepreneurs with viable, sustainable, market-based solutions for some of our state’s most pressing social problems. This year, applicants compete for up to $10,000 in growth and seed capital and other resources designed to help them take their business to the next level including membership at our Community Space. Winners will be announced at our annual Social Enterprise Awards held this October.

Timeline-Challenge

 

This application specifically asks social entrepreneurs:

  • To define the ways in which they measure the social value created by their business
  • How they engage other members of the community in creating value through their business
  • How they market their business and reach target customers
  • How they differentiate themselves from potential competitors
  • How their team supports their chances of success
  • To provide financial projections for profitability and growth

Social Enterprise Award Criteria:

  • The business or organization is located in Connecticut
  • The mission is stated clearly and indicates how the organization will improve the community
  • This business is operates in a socially responsible manner
  • The potential social impact of the organization is important, meaningful and significant
  • The organization has a defined pathway for growth and has the potential to create new jobs and contribute to Connecticut’s economy
  • The business plan is clear, compelling and comprehensive and the team demonstrates and understanding of what’s needed to execute it successfully
  • The organization has established a plan for attaining financial independence

I am the Civic Engagement Fellow for 2013-2014. While a student at Wesleyan I double majored in Psychology and Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and completed a joint thesis during my senior year. I am interested in issues of social justice, mental health, media, and global welfare.
