Last week, Steven Meyer ’86 sent the following message to WesChat, the alumni listerve. We are always pleased to see alumni supporting each others’ efforts to have social impact, so we are sharing Steven’s message in hopes that it will reach even more members of our community.

Listmates,
My fiancee and I have started a fundraising challenge for Shining Hope for Communities, a non-profit organization that many of you know has strong Wesleyan connections. SHOFCO provides a number of services to the very under-served community in Kibera, a slum in Nairobi, Kenya. Among these are a school for girls (the only school for girls in this slum of 1,000,000 people) and a health clinic named for Wesleyan student Johanna Justin-Jinich, who was tragically murdered a couple of years ago. There are many Wes. alums involved in this organization and it is truly making a difference in many people’s lives in Kibera and beyond.
If you are interested in donating (great tax deduction!), this is the link:

Thank you for considering it.
