Job Opening: PR Intern for NationSwell
NationSwell is a new media company that tells inspiring stories about innovative solutions to America’s great national challenges. NationSwell finds these stories in every corner of the country, brings them to life online, and drives action to support and scale them.
NationSwell is looking for a full time intern to lead the company’s editorial PR strategy and execution. The NationSwell PR Intern will be in charge of putting the company’s 8-12 published stories per day into the hands of interested reporters, bloggers, and producers to raise NationSwell’s profile, gain pickup and links to NationSwell, and form ongoing content and link partnerships. Carefully building and maintaining detailed press lists, crafting thoughtful and relevant pitches, responding to inquiries, researching new ways to reach targets, understanding each story’s subject matter, and not being discouraged by unresponsive reporters will all be critical elements to this job. The team will welcome constructive feedback and ideas from the PR intern about how to improve the PR process and meet NationSwell’s aggressive audience goals.
Job Requirements Include:
At least two full years of college completed
At least two full months of in-office work/ internship in the past
Passion for news, current events, and online information gathering
Availability for at least two consecutive months, Monday – Friday, 9 – 6
Excellent written and spoken communication skills
Goal driven mentality, determination, and focus on results
Demonstrated commitment to and experience in work that improves the lives of others
Interest in learning media relations skills
Comfort and grace with hard, sometimes monotonous work that has a purpose
