The Green Street Teaching and Learning Center is seeking proposals for the Spring 2016 AfterSchool session. If you are an artist, educator, or Wesleyan student and have an idea for a class and want to work at Green Street, you can submit a proposal by November 8, 2015.
They are looking for class proposals in music, visual art, culture, languages, movement, nutrition, media, other arts disciplines, environment, science, and math. We would be particularly pleased to hear your ideas for classes that integrate art, math, and science in a fun, enriching, hands-on way that children may not be exposed to during their traditional school day experience.
The Spring 2016 AfterSchool session runs from January 25-May 6, 2016.
AfterSchool classes for grades 1-5 run every weekday from 4:15-5:15pm. Teachers are paid for an hour of teaching and a half hour of setup. If you propose an AfterSchool class you would be teaching one day per week.
Wesleyan Bound classes for grades 6-8 occur on Fridays from 3:15-5:15pm. Teachers are paid for two hours of teaching and a half hour of setup.
Requirements:
- Attend a training program on January 23 from 11:30am-2:30pm
- Attend the evening Solstice performance on May 6th and rehearsals in the week prior
- Communicate regularly with teaching assistants
- Attend staff meetings
- Contribute at least one blog submission per semester
The deadline for submitting class proposals is Sunday, November 8, 2015. Individuals are welcome to submit proposals for more than one class, but please complete a separate application for each class proposal that you wish to submit. Applicants will be notified of the finalized schedule in late December.
