Cause Marketing Forum conference - Chicago June 2016Wesleyan alumnus David Hessekiel ’82 is Founder and President of Cause Marketing Forum and co-author of Good Works! Marketing and Corporate Initiatives that Build a Better World … and the Bottom Line. Cause Marketing Forum is a hub for the world of corporate social responsibility (CSR). Its goal is to increase the number of successful company/cause alliances by providing business and nonprofit executives with the practical information and connections they need to succeed.

Each year, Cause Marketing Forum hosts a conference which attracts hundreds of nonprofit and business executives from around the world who are working at the intersection of profit and purpose. This year’s event will take place June 1-2 in Chicago. According to the conference website, “CMF2016 is the place to hear from best and the brightest minds in the world of doing well by doing good.”

David and his team have invited Wesleyan students to attend the 2016 conference in exchange for helping to prepare for and run the event on May 31, June 1 & June 2. Tasks include assembling attendee materials on May 31, then checking in attendees and monitoring breakout sessions on June 1 & 2. Students are responsible for their own transportation and lodging but can apply for a PCSE enrichment grant to cover these expenses. David reports, “Hundreds of students and people in career transition have traded their ‘sweat equity’ for access to the Cause Marketing Forum over the years and enjoyed it immensely.” This is a terrific opportunity for students interested in leveraging the power of business for social change.
