Coach for Let’s Get Ready!
If you are interested in breaking out of the “Wesleyan bubble” and working with local students, we highly encourage you to coach for a program called Let’s Get Ready!
The Wesleyan chapter of this national organization offers free SAT prep and college counseling to low-income and first generation college students. Each coach commits to traveling one night per week to Francis T. Maloney High School and tutoring either math or verbal from 5:30-8:30. Within this time span, we also have a snack and dedicate about an hour to talking about the college process — where to apply, how to write an essay, how to apply for scholarships, and so much more.
Our coaches really make an impact: 92% of Let’s Get Ready students attend college, plus Let’s Get Ready students graduate college at a rate that is 5x higher than the national average for low-income students.
