Wesleyan’s Patricelli Center – call for volunteers

Dear friends of the Patricelli Center for Social Entrepreneurship,

Thank you to the volunteers who helped make 2017/2018 our best year yet. We are now gearing up for 2018/2019, and we are seeking a limited number of mentors, guest speakers, and pitch coaches to support student entrepreneurs and changemakers.

Mentors will:

  • Be custom matched with a Patricelli Center Fellow in September/October and stay in touch with them until May
  • Receive monthly email updates from their mentee and reply with feedback, advice, connections, or other resources
  • Meet with their mentee by phone, video, or in person upon request
  • Estimated time commitment: 1 hour per month, September-May

Guest speakers will:

  • Visit campus on a Tuesday or Thursday during spring semester
  • Give a 1-hour lecture or workshop on a topic related to social entrepreneurship (past topics include financial basics, pitching, public speaking, leadership, board management, fundraising, branding, marketing, design thinking, etc.)
  • Meet individually or in small groups with students who are designing projects/ventures or exploring careers in the social sector
  • Estimated time commitment: 6 hours on campus, plus travel and lecture prep time

Pitch coaches will:

  • Meet on campus or via video with students who are leading projects or ventures
  • Listen to practice pitches and offer feedback
  • Optionally stay in touch with students following those initial meetings
  • Estimated time commitment: 2 hours in the winter or spring, plus travel time if you come to campus

Would you like to donate your time for one or more of these roles? Do you have questions about the Patricelli Center, or ideas for other ways you can engage with our students? Please contact me at mjkingsley@wesleyan.edu

Thank you for your support,
