On November 21, Wesleyan University’s Center for Prison Education was honored with the Edythe J. Gaines Award for Inclusive Education by the Connecticut Commission for Human Rights and Opportunities at the CHRO Leaders and Legends Awards 2019. This award reflects the CPE’s ten-year commitment to bringing the transformative power of the liberal arts into Connecticut state prisons.
After advancing through a competitive admissions process, eighteen new students at Cheshire began their first year of college courses in the CPE program this fall, making this their largest student body to date.
