The Wesleyan Argus is hiring for two positions. See the following listings posted by Kaye Dyja:
Web Editor – The Wesleyan Argus
Hey there! Are you interested in web development/Wordpress/coding? Want to get paid and also get some free food? Come join the Argus staff as our Web Editor! You’ll be working on our website, www.wesleyanargus.com.
We offer food from Haveli, Typhoon, and Mondo during our production nights on Mondays and Thursdays, where you would be more than welcome!
We’re looking for someone who has:
• Web development experience! Internship experience would be preferred, but is not required if you have demonstrated skills in other ways. This is mostly a front end job but may touch on back end as well.
• Familiarity with WordPress, PHP, HTML, and/or CSS preferred.
• Communication Skills! We’ll need someone who will regularly be in contact with us regarding work on the website and updates to design.
• Genuine interest in web editing and design! This job requires problem solving and independent working skills.
• Initiative! This job requires proactive and regular weekly work, which will involve making changes and updates to the website design without a fixed schedule, because you can make your own hours. We’d like you to devote a couple hours to The Argus each week, but this job is primarily about improvements and development, which you will be a part of brainstorming.
A couple of the ideas that we have in the works are figuring out the best ways to get site visitors to subscribe to our email newsletter and donate to the paper, as well as rebuilding our staff page to incorporate photos.
You have a lot of freedom with this position, and you can set aside time that works for your schedule. It will also give you good experience with web editing and design! You’ll be trained by our other Web Editor to understand the specifics of the website, and we’re looking for someone who’s interested in sticking around continuing to serve as the Web Editor next semester.
