Spotlighting Community Campus Day

Now in its second year, the Jewett Center for Community Participation (JCCP) hosted three Community Campus Days (CCD) during the 2024-25 academic year, each highlighting a unique theme—Legends, Heroes, and Heritage.

CCD offers participants a chance to visit Wesleyan’s campus and take part in hands-on workshops, allowing them to explore new interests, develop skills, and experience college life, all for free.

This year’s workshops covered a range of topics, including creative writing, screen printing, geology, and vision boarding. At the most recent CCD on Saturday, February 22nd, attendees could choose two workshops from an exciting lineup featuring Gamelan (Indonesian music and percussion), West African dance, creative writing, leather tooling, and Earth’s minerals.

Student volunteer Sumreen Moughal ’25 shared her enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “Working with the JCCP and seeing the kids learn and explore new concepts while stepping outside their comfort zones was revitalizing. The students were eager to participate, engage in new things, and, most importantly, have fun. Seeing this firsthand deepened my passion for volunteering.”
