CT Educators Rising Leadership Symposium

Fall 2025 Highlights

On November 20th, Wesleyan University hosted the CT Educators Rising Leadership Symposium. The symposium was a unique opportunity that brought together over 180 high school students, teacher-leaders, college students, and staff from partnering organizations across the state and offered a unique space for aspiring educators to connect, learn, and explore pathways into the teaching profession.

Eighteen Wesleyan students – some from WSA, College of Education Studies majors, JCCP student groups, and others –  engaged with the high school students to provide guidance on the educator pathway and discussed topics like the college application process, transitioning to life on campus,  and managing time as a busy college student.

The event was made possible through a robust collaboration across several key partners, including the Allbritton Center for Study of Public Life, College of Education Studies, The Connecticut State Department of Education, The Connecticut General Assembly, PDK International, and representatives from numerous universities and colleges across the state, alongside schools across the state, and non-profits representing the New England and Tri-State area.

Reflecting on the event’s impact, Jason Foster, Connecticut State Coordinator for Educators Rising, shared:

“The symposium was a powerful demonstration of the commitment across Connecticut to strengthening the educator talent pipeline. This strong, multi-sector effort underscores our collective commitment to developing the pathway for future educators in Connecticut. I am proud to serve as the State and Regional Coordinator for Connecticut, facilitating this crucial work.”

We look forward to continuing partnerships that support future educators as they take their next steps toward impactful careers in education. Stay engaged for more upcoming news in the series!
