Join the Allbritton Center as we host this year’s Annual Hugo Black Lecture in Freedom of Expression with Professor David Rabban ‘71. Revivals in the Dark: A Two-Part Engagement by CLASSIX
CLASSIX, a collective founded by Obie-award-winning director Awoye Timpo, and features artists and scholars Brittany Bradford, A.J. Muhammad, Dominique Rider, and Arminda Thomas. CLASSIX was created to explode the classical canon through an exploration of Black performance history and dramatic works by Black writers. The entire CLASSIX team will be on campus March 30–31—please join us for two events which are both open to everyone (students, faculty, and staff), and may be especially of interest to anyone considering how creative practice can be used to explore and reimagine the existing histories and canonization of American Arts and Culture.

Job/Volunteer Opportunities
Apply to be next year’s Civic Engagement Fellow! Reporting to the Director of the Allbritton Center, the Civic Engagement Fellow will work closely with staff and offices across campus, to engage students and support faculty in civic engagement endeavors. This one-year fellowship will bolster your professional skills in marketing, communications, and relationship building.
The Office of the President recently launched their Presidential Fellows Program and are looking to hire three fellows: Presidential Fellow in Student Academic Resources; Presidential Fellow in University Communications; Presidential Fellow in Advancement Business Intelligence. Interested seniors or recent alumni should submit their applications by March 28th. If you have any questions about the program, please contact Anne Laskowski at alaskowski@wesleyan.edu.
CT’s 2023 Arts Workforce Initiative is accepting submissions from individuals who are interested in a summer apprenticeship with a non-profit arts organization. The apprenticeship period is June – August 2023. Apprentices work 25 hours a week for 10 weeks and are paid $15 an hour. The application deadline is March 30th at 12:00pm.
Slate School is hiring, and they are currently accepting applications for a Grade 5/6 Associate Teacher. Slate School has a time-tested apprenticeship model for educators. Their program is unlike any other, and they’ve had great success introducing educators to the uniqueness of child-led learning in the elementary years.

In partnership with Urban Bush Women, Junebug Productions, and The People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond, Wesleyan University’s Embodying Antiracism Initiative is honored to host the Summer Leadership Institute in Middletown, Connecticut from Monday, June 5 through Sunday, June 11, 2023. Open to Wesleyan University students, faculty, staff, alumni, and their families, as well as anyone who lives and/or works in Middletown and others who have had an affiliation with Wesleyan. Applicants do not need to have prior dance experience. Applications are due on Monday, April 3, 2023.
