The first in a series of “Social Entrepreneurship Bootcamp” workshops, this will be a highly-interactive session covering:

  • Developing a business model canvas
  • Writing a compelling executive summary
  • Drafting a winning PowerPoint presentation
  • “GOLD” tips for social entrepreneurs seeking financing
  • And more

Participants will also review and assess a real application from the 2013 NYU/Stern $200K Business Plan Competition.

Stephen J. McCarthy is the Senior Vice President of KCG Capital Advisors, a family investment office/foundation administration venture. Previously, he held senior executive positions in the strategic planning, credit/risk management, business consulting, capital markets and retail brokerage arenas at PaineWebber, Security Pacific, Deloitte, Citibank and Bache respectively. Since 2004, Mr. McCarthy has been a mentor/coach/semi-final judge at the annual $200K NYU/Stern Business Plan Competition, where he specializes in the social entrepreneurship track.

Mr. McCarthy received his BA from Wesleyan (Economics and Government) and his MBA from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University. He completed an Executive Education Certificate Program on Entrepreneurship/Venture Capital Investing at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
