This just in from Kate Weiner ’15:
Jumpstart Academy is an organization that seeks to educate, equip, and empower Nigerian youths through a two-year Leadership and Entrepreneurship program. This program melds community service learning with business opportunities in order to cultivate a new generation of ethical entrepreneurs.
Although based in Ibadan, Nigeria, Jumpstart is seeking interns at Wesleyan for the spring semester. Interns will work directly with Kate Weiner, Jumpstart’s Creative Development Intern, to learn first-hand about building social enterprises through research, grant writing, fundraising, and community outreach opportunities. Omotola Akinsola, Jumpstart’s founder, would love for the interns to participate in cross-cultural conversations via Skype with her students as well. She is also hoping to bring the Wesleyan interns to Nigeria in several months time in order to see the incredible progress Jumpstart is making.
Interning with Jumpstart will be a wonderful opportunity to learn about social entrepreneurship through actively helping grow a social enterprise. This position is currently unpaid: however, interns will not be expected to work more than a maximum of three hours per week (the average will be two). If you have any questions or would like to apply, please contact Kate Weiner at kweiner@wesleyan.edu. Jumpstart is grateful for your support!
