Marching On: A Conference on Gun Violence Prevention

march-for-changeThis Saturday, the Wesleyan Association for Christian Thinkers and the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life are hosting a conference on gun violence prevention. Speakers include Wesleyan professor J. Donald Moon and Mayor Daniel Drew.

Sessions include a review of the 2013 legislative session and an overview of gun violence in Connecticut today, issues of gun homicide and gun crimes, terminology and technology of guns, and how to effectively lobby for gun safety.

This conference runs from 8:30a-2:00p at Exley Science Center. Registration is free for students, however students must register here. Take advantage of this educational and inspiring opportunity and learn how you can affect change in your own community.

I am the Civic Engagement Fellow for 2013-2014. While a student at Wesleyan I double majored in Psychology and Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and completed a joint thesis during my senior year. I am interested in issues of social justice, mental health, media, and global welfare.
