FoodCorps Information Session

foodcorpsThis Thursday, FoodCorps will be holding an information session at 7p in the Olson Commons! Learn more about this organization below and we hope to see you on Thursday:

FoodCorps is a nationwide team of leaders that connects kids to real food and helps them grow up healthy. We do that by placing motivated leaders in limited-resource communities for a year of public service. Working under the direction of local partner organizations, we implement a special recipe for healthy kids. Our Service Members:

1. Teach kids about what healthy food is and where it comes from 2. Build and tend school gardens 3. Bring quality local food into public school cafeterias

Come learn how you join the fight for healthier children!  Our presenter, Dana Stevens, has shared her passion for health through farming and environmental education over the past 10 years across New England. She has spent time teaching children and adults about the environment on an re-created 18th Century Sloop on the Hudson River, helped run an indigenous living and survival skills camp in upstate New York, farmed in southern New Hampshire, northern coastal Maine and western Massachusetts, and is now entering her third year with FoodCorps.

(Healthy) snacks will be provided.
