Spring Internships at Connecticut’s Old State House

urlHelp build civic engagement in CT! Intern in the Education Department of the Old State House:

Description
Connecticut’s Old State House is currently accepting applications for spring 2015 internships. We seek enthusiastic and motivated undergraduate and graduate students considering careers in the museum profession. Candidates should be interested in the intersection of history and education, and the engagement of students and visitors in historic and contemporary stories of civic engagement.

It is the mission of Connecticut’s Old State House, a division of the Connecticut Public Affairs Network, Inc. (CPAN), to reawaken citizen engagement and awareness by offering an authentic, educational and inspiring visitor experience.

Responsibilities
Successful Intern candidates will be expected to work 2-3 days per week at Connecticut’s Old State House in downtown Hartford. Interns will focus on specific projects that complement their academic studies and career goals, suit their strengths and interests, and advance the Old State House’s mission and institutional priorities. Our internships provide practical learning experience in the areas of school programs, public programs and evaluation. Current project opportunities include:

  • Assist with the planning and execution of History Day in Connecticut, a statewide program for middle- and high-school students
  • Assist with the Research and development of new school programs
  • Plan upcoming public programs, including Town Hall Meetings and Conversations at Noon
  • Analyze recent programs and tour feedback by developing a streamlined system for evaluation

Projects can also be designed to suit student needs. Interns will also learn about all functions of the museum including facilitating tours, delivering school programs and managing the gift shop.

Apply
All OSH intern positions are unpaid (but you can earn .25 credit through CSPL 493). Applications for Spring 2015 Internships must be received by Friday, January 9, 2015.
