Broccoli City Forum and Vibes Music Festival (sustainability panel and event on 5/2)

BROCCOLI CITY FORUM @ WESLEYAN

Saturday May 2nd, 1 – 3pm
Wesleyan University
Schonberg Dance Studio
co-sponsored by the Patricelli Center for Social Entrepreneurship

Project Description
The Broccoli City Forum @ Wes is a sustainability forum and panel at Wesleyan and sponsored by the Broccoli City Organic Lifestyle Group. The forum will include a panel of students, faculty, and outside speakers in addition to a keynote speaker. We want to attract people outside of the typical crowd for  sustainability to empower them to make informed decisions about their health and the environment.

The primary objective of the Broccoli City Forum @ Wes is to encourage environmentally sustainable lifestyles and to promote sustainable causes in a cool and relevant way. We would like for the panel speakers to focus the discussion on their personal experience with sustainability and the importance of uniting environmental causes with social projects. The panel should be informative and helpful, but also free-flowing and intimate. Each panelists should represent a unique cause or area of interest.

The BCF@Wes will also be an opportunity for visual artists to display their work and for poets and spoken word performers to showcase their talents. It will begin with a speech from our keynote speaker and culminate with a screening of footage from the Broccoli City Festival.

VIBES MUSIC FESTIVAL
Saturday May 2nd, 3 – 10pm
Wesleyan University
Senior Village

Mission
The primary objective of the VIBES Music Festival is to encourage environmentally sustainable lifestyles and to promote sustainable causes on campus in a cool and relevant way. We would like for the festival to be a collaborative effort that consolidates the efforts of various campus groups with diverse interests and from often disjointed sections of campus. The festival should be informative and raise awareness for important causes, but also free-flowing, stimulating, and fun.

Project Description
VIBES Music Festival is a music and sustainability festival at Wesleyan and sponsored by the Broccoli City Organic Lifestyle Group. The festival includes live music and dance performances, food vendors, body wellness booths, art exhibitions, educational information, and more. We want people to have fun while empowering them to make informed decisions about their health and the environment.

The intent of the festival is to introduce elements of sustainability to the campus at large with a compelling and unifying platform that integrates music, visual art, dance, comedy, yoga workshops, active games, raw food demos, interactive booths and a guest performance. This year’s festival is co-sponsored by the Green Fund, the SBC, the WSA, and SALD, and powered by a variety of student groups including WILDWes, EON, Invisible Men, the Eco-Facilitators, Composting Committee, Red Feather Studios, RAW, and many more.
