Social Emotional Learning (SEL) 101 : an event for Wesleyan students who are involved in community service that works with young people through tutoring or mentoring

 

Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.

Wesleyan students are invited to a training led by Kathy Thompson, the Middletown Public Schools Coordinator for Project AWARE [Advancing Wellness and Resilience in Education]. Participants will learn about new SEL initiatives in the Middletown Public Schools, and how to implement the basics of SEL into their tutoring and mentoring.
