Suspension of Civic Engagement Programs

Update from Wesleyan University’s Jewett Center for Community Partnerships:

As you know, the containment of COVID-19 has become a top priority for institutions across the country in recent days.  In our effort to mitigate the spread of the virus, the university will move to distance learning instruction for the rest of the semester.  All on campus events have been canceled and students have been instructed to NOT return to campus following the conclusion of spring break (March 23rd ). Effective March 11, 2020, all Wesleyan University, in person direct-service community engagement is suspended. In some cases, however students, staff/faculty will be able to support civic engagement activities remotely. We will continue to provide the appropriate supports to projects across the greater Middletown community and beyond.

This is uncharted territory for us all. Please know we welcome your suggestions for how we might continue to support community partners and civically engaged students during these challenging times.

We ask all Wesleyan students who wish to engage in remote community service to review and sign onto the updated Cardinal Community Commitment
