Ron Young is a Consultant for the National Interreligious Initiative for Peace of the National Interreligious Leadership Initiative.
Ron works with leaders of 25 U.S. Jewish, Christian and Muslim national religious organizations to develop consensus advocacy positions and mobilize public support for active, fair and firm U.S. leadership for Arab-Israeli-Palestinian peace.- NILI
He is the author of Missed Opportunities for Peace: U.S. Middle East Policy, 1981-86 and has presented widely on interreligious peace. He has been working on the Palestinian-Israeli struggles and other Middle East issues for over 30 years. Ron is coming to campus from Wednesday, November 4- Sunday November 8th. During the week, he will be available at three talks, hosted by the Allbritton Center for the Study of Public Life.

Ron will lecture on the role of students from multiple faith groups in justice and peace work in the Middle East starting at 7:30pm and then will open the floor to a question and answer session with the audience. The event is co-sponsored by J-Street and Wesleyan United with Israel, in an effort to involve different voices and perspectives on campus. Snacks will be provided.

Recently Young helped organize the January 2015 call by leaders of 25 Jewish, Christian and Muslim national religious organizations for a bold, new, determined US initiative, in coordination with the Quartet, for Israeli-Palestinian peace. The leaders urged the US and Quartet to present Israel and the Palestinian Authority a balanced and fair framework based on UNSC Resolutions 242, 338 and 1397, and practical ideas from previous official and informal talks as the basis for negotiating a two-state solution before it is too late. During this talk, part of the Right Now! series, he will speak to the role of US policy in supporting a two-state solution in Israel and Palestine.

Inter-Faith Council Lunch Talk: The Role of the Various Faith Traditions in the Middle East and the Israel/Palestine Conflict

Father Bill will serve as at the moderator for this luncheon and conversation with Ron at noon on Friday. He will be speaking to the role that religion plays in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the consequences of that conflict in various faith transitions. The talk will take place at the Wasch House on Lawn Avenue.
