The Middletown Refugee Resettlement Coalition is a Middletown community group that is organizing to support three refugee families in Middletown. It includes approximately 20 groups, including Wesleyan’s Center for Community Partnerships, the Middlesex Coalition for Children, South Congregational Church, and Christ Episcopal Church. They are working with the New Haven-based Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services, more commonly known as IRIS, to connect the families to the legal immigration resources they need. As an intern, you will work with members of this inter-faith, inter-cultural group to facilitate various aspects of resettlement for these three families.

Specific duties will include:

Attend coalition meetings – typically held every 2 – 3 weeks in the evening

Support communication of group members

Follow up with donors

Create volunteer input forms (in google forms) and run reports when needed

Provide updates to the Facebook page as needed

Create checklists for the cohorts supporting families to ensure all necessary tasks are completed

Facilitate contact with education organizations to support ESL support

Facilitate connections to Wesleyan students and/or Wesleyan resources in conjunction with the Center for Community Partnerships

The intern will work directly with Izzy Guy, a member of the Refugee Resettlement Coalition

This is a paid position, approximately 10 hours a week, $12/hour for the remainder of the spring semester. Interested applicants must send a resume and short statement of interest/experience to Cathy Lechowicz (clechowicz@wesleyan.edu) by Sunday 2/21.
