Exploring College Pathways
A Program Sponsored by the Jewett Center for Community Partnerships
The Exploring College Pathways Program is a program designed to help high school juniors explore their interests in college. Wesleyan University stakeholders and community partners support the work of high school teachers and administrators as they bolster student knowledge of and preparation for the college admissions process. Participants will leave the program knowing more about the college admissions process, how to present themselves as an admissions candidate, and with a plan for applying and getting accepted to college.
Starting in February, high school juniors from partner school districts across the region will come together to work towards their college goals and learn from each other in the process. Over the course of five Saturday Sessions, participants will learn the basics of admissions, will workshop their ideas with each other, and will reflect on their own college-going journeys.
This program is put on in partnership with a number of Wesleyan departments and student groups from across campus. Students will volunteer their time by facilitating workshops, speaking on panels, and leading discussions. Are you a Wesleyan student, staff or faculty member and want to volunteer? Participants will also be invited to a number of Wesleyan events from athletics games and concerts, to author-talks and social change workshops. Do you have a campus event you would like us to feature? Send it to: engage@wesleyan.edu
Through this program, the JCCP hopes to further our commitment to co-creating mutually respectful partnerships in pursuit of a just, equitable, and sustainable future for communities beyond the campus—nearby and around the world.
